Fall Physicals

Parents,

As we approach the start of school, I am sending out a friendly reminder for our fall sport participants. Your student athlete must have a completed and approved DIAA Physical Form to participate in any fall sport or season to follow. Physicals must be dated after April 1st 2023 for the upcoming fall season. All physicals can be electronically submitted or dropped off at the school. Besides your primary physician, physicals can also be done at any urgent care facility for a flat fee. Please contact Michael Phillips, Director of Health Services at mphillips@saintannesschool.org with any physical exam questions.

As a reminder all practice dates and games are listed on https://www.heronssports.com

Each coach will hold an interest meeting for their respective teams upon our return to school. In addition, practice schedules will be posted as well towards the end of August.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at cwidener@saintannesschool.org

Go Herons!

Your son and daughter must have a completed and approved DIAA Physical Form to participate in any sport. Please contact Michael Phillips, Director of Health Services at mphillips@saintannesschool.org with any physical exam questions.

A few notes on transportation.

Bus Drivers:
As many of you are aware there is a severe bus driver shortage in the State.

What does this mean for St. Annes Athletics?

If for any reason a driver is not available and cannot drive our teams, we will need to rely on parents to assist with transportation or consider cancelling the game.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Christopher Widener

Mission Statement

Heron Athletics considers interscholastic competition to be an important and essential part of the educational program for every student at Saint Anne’s Episcopal School. Our program connects to the whole student: academically, socially, emotionally and physically through preparation and planning throughout the season. Our focus provides enriching opportunities for all student-athletes. Our emphasis is on developing skills through individual instruction, peer interaction and competition. We meet student-athletes at their individual skill sets providing a challenging environment in both team and individual sports. Each student’s development will focus on self-esteem and self-confidence so that they can reach their greatest potential and develop the lifetime skills integral to their continued success. Striving for victory is the nature of all athletic competition, but it is only one measure when determining success. Guiding a team as well as the individual to reach their maximum potential is our ultimate goal. Our trust is that all individuals associated with Heron Athletics will value the development of each student athlete through athletic competition. We expect all participants to respect themselves and others, put the team before themselves, handle adversity like success, have a strong work ethic and show up prepared. Together, we are Heron proud!

Message from the Athletic Director

Please be sure DIAA Physicals are complete.
They can be printed from the following link ... DIAA Physicals
Athletes cannot practice or participate in games until the completed form is returned.

Mandatory for Parents:
Concussion Awareness for Parents & Students - Delaware law and DIAA regulation require concussion awareness for parents and students.  The current PPE includes a Concussion Fact Sheet and sign-off section. The link to the DIAA PPE and Concussion Fact Sheet is on the bottom left of this page.

REMINDER:
DIAA physicals completed after April 1st, 2021 are good for the entire 2021-2022 school year and all three sport's seasons.  DIAA Physical Forms must be completed prior to the first practice.  Without the completed form, athletes are ineligible to participate in practices or games.

Please contact Michael Phillips, Director of Health Services at mphillips@saintannesschool.org with any physical exam questions.
